My fathers family grew up on a farm near Lake Henry across from the Trayco's farm. After they sold the farm my father rental Mr. Batzels place and we rented it year after year for 30 years. We had the best times and our children grew up coming to the lake every year. When the owners passed away the children never rented it again. We are very interested in renting a home or cabin at the lake again. If you have any information please let me know. Admin: Thank you for completing our survey. I believe that there are a number of rentals available at the Lake. I would suggest that you Google using Lake Henry Pa as your search term (see our Home page). BB: Rembering Lake Henry Summers Hello. just happened to stumble upon your web site. Enjoyed the pictures and history and especially the comments. My family owned a cottage from 1952 thru 1962 and I have many wonderful memories of my summers there. My friends and I would visit Jessies boathouse several times a week to drink a soda, have a candy bar and basically shoot the breeze. Most of the time Jessie would be in her house and would have to walk down a small hill to open the store. occasionally Jessie would be unavailable and Bob would open up. Admin: While the boathouse is now part of Lake Henry history, the lake is still a great place to spend the summer. In fact, it is a great place to be any season. CLC Orson, PA : Lake Henry Memories In response to CHB from Alexandria, VA. You are very accurate in your description of Jesse's boat rental and the surrounding area. When I read your comments it brought back pleasant memories of days gone by, as I spent most of my summers as a child there, with my Grand parents, Friend and Gertrude Bartlow in the cottage right next door to the soda/boat rental stand. My Grandfather, Friend, had a gentleman's agreement with Mr. Black that basically (I do not know the actual circumstances that brought this about) allowed them to maintain and stay in that cottage as long as he lived, and that agreement, bound by a handshake, held right up until he died. The cottage is long gone now and a big beautiful house now stands where it used to be, but your comments temporarily took me to a wonderful time in my life. Thank you. Admin: Thank you for sharing your memories, if you have not looked at our Lake History pages, I think you might enjoy an email that is posted there on page three. CBH, Alexandria, Va. I was surprised (and pleased) to find this site when I googled Lake Henry. I have been checking local realtors off and on for the past year or so hoping to find some buildable acreage on the lake. Admin: Thank you for the kind words. Good luck in your search for a buildable lot on the lake. Lynn, Curious Visitor:
Hi, I was curious however about something that appears on a number of pages I visited. A little box with the letters W3C, a check mark and the letters XHTML 1.0. Could you tell me what that is about. Admin: If you have an interest, next time you are on the web and visiting a site, go to the Tool Bar at the top of your screen, click on View and click Source. What will be displayed is all the coding and content that allows you to see what is appearing on your screen. If you visit our site again, click on the icon, you will be taken to the W3C site while it validates the code we used on that page. Hopefully a large green box will appear advising you that our XHTM code validates, if you get a red box, please let us know, means we have something wrong in our coding. Phil, Lost in California: I don’t know how I got to this site. But your At the lake: winter, especially the pictures, made me remember why I moved to Orange County, California. I am originally from the Philadelphia area Admin: Bet you miss the changing seasons, if not the snow and cold. Stop back again when you get home sick. Top of Page |
